Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
On the eve of Kali Puja, a fire incident sent shockwaves through Kolkata as flames engulfed a multi-storey building in the Chandni Chowk area. The local fire department swung into action, deploying five fire engines to battle the blaze.
As of now, the authorities have not disclosed the cause of the fire. Residents in the Madan Street No. 9 area spotted the fire, leading to swift action by the fire department. In response to the potential danger, orders have been issued to evacuate the multi-storey building.
Local police have initiated announcements to ensure the safe evacuation of the building's occupants. The area became engulfed in darkness as thick black smoke billowed from the fire. Firefighters are on-site, working diligently to contain and extinguish the flames to prevent further spread.
The incident has left local residents understandably shaken.
